Removal of Nameplate on 2001 Bambi?

I have corrosion at the bottom of the nameplates on both sides of my 2001 19' Bambi. I have it in the shop for a few things and one of them is to fix the corrosion in these two areas. I understood that the emblems were to be removed and the corrosion arrested. The panel surrounding the nameplates was going to be polished in an eliptical shape to match the emblem. I'm now being told that the emblems weren't going to be removed because it involved bolts that require removal from inside and that requires removing the inside panel.

Does this sound right? Can anyone shed light on this for me? Thanks in advance

I am familiar with this issue. With my 2001 19' Bambi, it was possible to carefully locate the place on the inside wall opposite the badge, slice an "X" through the fabric with a box cutter where the bolts were located (about 1" cross), cut a small square flap of the inner skin approximately 3/4" across, bend that out, feel through the insulation for the nuts, and then remove them. I asked JC about the badge mounting stud locations so I could space the cuts properly, but I do not recall that size.
After remounting the badge, I bent the flaps back to their original position, covered the cut slots with metal air-duct tape, then pushed the interior fabric back over the hole. Because the fabric was self-adhesive, it stuck right into place and was not noticeable. That was six years ago and the fabric has held on without any noticeable cut.
