Question Painting emblems

I have been restoring the paint on all of my nameplates and emblums,(I know it's easier to buy new) but the satisfaction of doing 100% is important to me. Anyway, my owners manual is in black & white , and I'm trying to find out if there was any color in the emblum of the cursive "International"? My serial plate with bicycle turned out darn good despite micro detailing involved.I'll post pictures of all of the work from cork floor to paint detail when get a chance!(sorry about the bloviating)

My "International" was painted blue.

I'll bite - what is "bloviating"? My Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary does not list anything starting with B-L-O-V

Hi, TowW,

It's "blow-hard" with a fake Latin ending, used by Pres. Warren Harding quite often and now returning to our language. It's interesting that he, of all people, would use this word.

Bloviate

Tom -- Most any odd word entered in Google will return back several online dictionary references to that word.

At work we searched on a Trace Atkins song lyric 'badonkadonk' and were glad nobody was looking over our shoulder...

Thumbs up Sorry for the hijacking

65 overlander -- We don't want to distract from your original post asking about the International logo. Let's get it back on track .... while also saying 'Welcome' to the Airstream Forums!

Any other thoughts 'out there' about the color of his logo? I'd assume the classic Airstream medium blue but have no basis for that. Anyone?

Emblem not Emblum!

All this talk about dictionaries , and I spell Emblem wrong!
My curb side which I was working on has no sign of paint, but looking on the street side saw a hint of blue!

65-O,

I looked at your year in the photo archives at http://www.vintageairstream.com/archives/index.html and couldn't see much in the views offered. I would suggest looking forward or back a couple years from 1965 and seeing if anything is familiar.

As always, you'll get some recognition for this issue if you have a digital camera and can post photos.

Does anyone know when AS changed emblem colors to blue?? My '56 has ble on the emblems and what's left of the stripe, though I remember reading that the origonal emblem colors were a 'silver-grey'.

I believe this is the correct pattern - it's what's on mine and in several photos from Vintage Airstream - "red, white and blue". Can you please let us know how you did this and how it worked out. I know mine sure need to be done.

hey 65

I also have a '65 Overlander (Ohio built). I did not find any trace of colors left on the original "International" or "Overlander" nameplates. However the inside of the moulding around the side and back were royal blue and the flag emblem was well, red white and blue of course! I sandblasted and painted the International emblems silver and repainted the flag with model paints. Sorry, I don't have any pics to post. All emblems are currently removed for polishing! --dave
