Airstream Pewter Gray

Bob:
I bought some Airstream touch-up Pewter Gray #360260-100 from C&G a couple of years ago. The color matched perfectly. The only problem was that it never dried. I sanded, primed with Rustoleum gray primer and painted with the Airstream spray. I had it hanging a week in my tool shed in the summer...still very soft and tacky. Somewhere on the forums I read that somebody recommended Plasti-kote #1543 Charcoal Gray metallic. It actually is nice paint, only it is metallic so it has, I guess, more silver in it. (Knowing the Air Forum people, they will say, what's wrong with more silver)? It does look nice but it isn't exactly the same. I think that possibly the paint I got from C & G might have been old. (It wasn't cheap). I wonder if anybody has ordered it from Airstream in Ohio?

I painted my Equalizer with Gloss Rustoleum and it turned out great. (Home Depot).

The easiest way to protect decals while spray painting is to use vasaline. I have used it for years painting lawn mower engines and it works great. Not to mention, the price is right.

Hi, Randy. My paint dried in about an hour, you must have had a bad can. I painted my Equal-i-zer with Rustoleum / semi-gloss.

Hi, idmtman. Even though I replaced my spring bar decals with reflector tape, I think I will put some new decals on too.

Hi, today I decided to repaint my Guardian G-37 coupler lock. It wasn't looking too bad or too good either, so I painted it black too.

I had the spray paint that didn't dry. C&G told me that Airstream finally recalled all of the cans of paint from January forward. We were all having trouble.

Once the formula was straightened out they replaced it. C&G swapped my can out when they got the new ones in N/C.
