Brian, here is a little info on what I do with the skin filiform.. match is not perfect, but much better than the corrosion unless a small area.
Thanks Howard - that looks very good. Not sure if I can get that particular Rustoleum here in Canada but will look - in any event, all being well we will soon be in Florida for an extended stay!

I have always touched up by brush painting rather than spray, because I was a afraid that the feathered overspray would tend to catch dirt over time and look grubby, but it sounds as though you have successfully managed to avoid that by a very light final sanding - maybe wet sanding might be best?

If you want to be safe, use 1000 wet/dry to remove the silver overspray. You can go dry since you are just very lightly sanding. Extend out over the Alcoa Clear Coat a bit also. You just need to get the sandy feel off. Wipe clean with a dry cloth then spray the clear coat over the silver paint, feathering out over the adjacent Alcoa clear coat you touched with the sandpaper. Nyalic, if you use, will feather very nicely into the factory clear and only be noticeable as an ever so slightly shinier surface. Nearly impossible to notice the different clear coat covering if you use the Nyalic. (note the caution on the thin Nyalic--Practice a small area on metal to get the "tack coat" process when spraying the stuff.)

Have you considered buying the stainless steel replacement door? They are sold by both vintage trailer supply as well as the airstream store. They are available in both a smooth/plain surface as well as a riveted face. They're a little pricey, but I just upgraded this weekend and am very happy with how it looks.
