Okay, any evershield results from anybody

I recall Andy mentioned that he had purchased Evershield and was going to try it.
Is there anybody else that took that plunge?

We have been extremely busy.

Just today, we ran a test segment, with bare metal as well as over our metallic silver, using the Evershield

Will post the results in a week or so.

Evershield results.

We applied the Evershield, according to their directions, on bare aluminum, and on top of our metallic silver paint.

The bare aluminum test showed many many dimples as though the metal was very porous and each pore had something in it that did not agree with the Evershield.

Not acceptable, by any means.

We then put a torch to the bare metal, and to the bare metal that was coated with Evershield.

Amazingly, it took six times as long to melt the aluminum that was coated with the Evershield, as opposed to non-coated.

But, I don't know why someone would want to put a torch to their Airstream.

Next, the pre-clean that Evershield supplied, ruined the metallic silver paint appearance. There was no point in clear coating the results, with their material, as the metallic silver finish was definitly destroyed.

Absolutely not acceptable.

Lastly, we sprayed the Evershield, without using the pre-clean over our metallic silver. Along side of that, we clear coated the metallic silver with the clear that we normally use. The Evershield portion was not glossy, but more of a semi-gloss. The other half of that panel using all of our materials, was very glossy, and appeared to be glass coated. Our web site shows an example of that gloss.

The results using the Evershield, was not acceptable.

The overall results using the Evershield, was very disappointing, to say the least, especially when you consider the cost of the materials.

We are sure Evershield has a market, but certainly in our tests, Airstream is not one of them.

Unfortunately, the digital photo's are not self explanatory, therefore we will not post them.

Andy, sounds like they may have an outlet in the aluminum cooking utensil market, with that "melt test". It doesn't sound like I would want it within a mile of my Airstream.

The Evershield indeed, looked very promising to us.

However, our test results turned it thumbs down, for our purpose, which is solely Airstreams.

We are not aware of any other material that might be available for us to test, unfortunately.

So, it's continue on with the Airstream two part material.
