Need some paint advice...

OK, it's not an Airstream, but it IS made of aluminum.

I'm in the process of repairing my 12 year old Radisson canoe. When I ordered new sponsons and sealant from Radisson, they told me that the original paint is an oil based enamel. It came an ugly olive drab which is now even uglier. I've gotten all of the loose dead paint off that's coming off without using a chemical stripper. Any suggestions for a good brand of oil based paint to use?

Hi Bob,

Why don't you check out Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Company at:

Pilot Supplies, Avionics, and Homebuilt Aircraft Parts from Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Co.

Bob; I've painted aircraft boats houses motorcycles etc. Interlux has some great single part poly paints. google them. You apply with a foam brush, about 3 to 5 coats. It looks like it was sprayed on NO BS. $35 a quart.

Thanks guys, some facinating reading at both Aircraft Spruce and yachtpaint.com. Looks like Interlux Brightside is a good bet, regardless of the price. Best part... I have a West Marine in my area that carries Interlux products.

You guys are a great resource. Thanks again!
