LP Tank Lid - paint removal

Howdy..
How should I approach removing paint from the plastic lid without damaging it? It currently has 'peeling' black paint.. I suspect it is gloss black.. but not sure.. any helpful advice appreciated.

Sanding the old paint off, is your only approach.

Any paint remover will damage the plastic cover.

Before you start, make sure you have some assistance standing by.

You know, a nice cool one, to work off the sweat.

Hello Channing, hoping you are doing well.

I realize this is an old thread, but I was wondering how the wet sanding of your propane tank cover (plastic) went, and what type paint you used, including the color.

The propane tank cover lid (plastic too) for our 1999 25' Safari is peeling and I want to paint it. Since yours and ours are the same year, I thought I'd check to see how yours went and what you used.

While I'm at it, I am wanting to paint our tongue and the rear bumper/partial frame which supports the bumper. Ours looks some shade of darker grey rather than black, but it could be that the sun and time has changed the color somewhat. I've thought about Por 15, but from what I've read, that is a little harder to use and messy. Did you paint your bumper and tongue?

Thanks.

Deb
