Well, Since I'm polishing the rest of the Argy...I've decided to wrap the end caps in chrome. 3M makes the best, but they only come on 48" width which would require a seam. There is a company in Canada that sells on eBay that has widths up to 120", but don't know about the quality. My guy quoted me $10 sq. ft. So that's about $1,200 total...ouch! I think I'm gonna try it on my own with the Canadian material. I should get the whole job done for about $350 + several hours of labor.

Can't wait to see it.
What is life expectancy, and how does one prolong that?

P and S Trailer - Starkist Tuna Trailer
The guys here at P&S have done it or arranged for it to be done. They might have some answers about the effect on the finish under the wrap....?

I don't think most of these promo trailers are kept much longer than a year. That having been said, I don't think they will have the historical data we need to make an informed decision. I think it gonna take someone actually doing it, and reporting thru the thread over time...perhaps many years. My gut tells me that there will be no problems with the clearcoat or delamination from the Aluminum rejecting the material. This stuff typically has a mfg. warranty, so that should be the guage of presumed longevity.

Hi! I know this thread is a bit old but perhaps you'll see this anyway. Again, I know it's been awhile but you don't recall this person's information, by chance? I've been doing all kinds of research on wrapping a vintage trailer and I've seen many on airstreams, obviously but I'm just trying to see what my options are, gauge pricing, etc. So any information you may remember would be amazing! I'm definitely having trouble finding anyone in the Orlando area. Though I'm definitely not above traveling a bit for quality work, it would definitely be more convenient if I found someone worthwhile here in town )
thanks in advance!

Jessika, do a Google SEARCH for "orlando florida wide format printers"; and you will see a list of companies that do vehicle wraps. Just make sure to use a printer that has previous experience with vehicle wraps; because it takes special ink and print media, even though they may have a printer that will print the right size.
Also, ask for referrals. Most previous customers will be glad to show their vehicle wraps to you; and then, you can decide for yourself whether that printer will produce satisfactory results.

We have the newest model Roland Versa Camm VS 540i wide format printer here a work. You could get some awesome stuff done up in a digital print. The biggest caution I have is, is even though the technology is improving and UV laminates on top of the print are standard the colour is only guaranteed for 5 years under normal exposure. Although...if you had interior storage for your wrapped trailer to protect it from the suns rays when you aren't out and about you would be fine for a very long time. Cost is approximately $15 per square foot

Oh wow! That's not nearly as horrifying a figure as I would have imagined! I'm actually converting my trailer into a mobile business so I intend to actually keep it in a covered area at the least (or even climate controlled storage, ideally) so that actually doesn't concern me toooo much because obviously Floria sun rays are nothing to mess with hah Thanks so much for the information, that's very exciting news!
