Did Airstream ever paint trailers? 1972

My 72 Overlander has obviously been professionally painted, and I am wondering if AS ever offered that option?

The paint is kind of a metallic silver. You can see flecks in it, and where it covers the rivets it flows right over them. Unfortunately, the exterior of the trailer is not perfect. There is no way I will every strip it down for polishing, but would consider repainting it since it has a nice base on it. That way I could also get rid of some of the minor scrapes and dings that were in it when I got it.

Just curious about the painting scenario.

No...it wasn't an option. Probably an after-market job. We had a 76 Safari in our WBCCI Unit that was painted...it looked pretty good.
