We are fixing the breaks and repacking the bearings on our 72 overlander. I figured this would be a good time to touch up the undercarriage. It hasn't been painted in the past and is showing a little rust. I could swear that I have seen a thread about this in the past but todays searches aren't showing any results. I was thinking it might look cool to paint it with a red or blue rustoleum. We will eventually repaint the emblems and the blue strip on the exterior as well as the hubcaps and I thought this addition might really make the colors pop. My hubby thinks a black or silver will look more natural but isn't opposed to the "pop". Does anyone have advice? Or pictures of what they have done? We are also taking forum votes on the color. Blue, Red, Silver, or Black?
RedSHED has been discussing painting ours, as well. He asked me today about color. I suggested pink, to go with the flamingos. I can't figure out why he isn't buying into the idea.
I think we are going to go for the metallic grey. We will probably have to paint the frame in the rear at some point and I think a bright color would look a little odd back there. I also think a bright color would show a lot of dirt and grime. Thank you all for the advice
I really like the look on my 1983 Excella. The banana wrap on my 1967 Trade Wind has some dents. It has occurred to me that they could be repaired using ordinary automobile techniques if they were painted like the Excella.
