Clear coat "bubbling"

Recently I noticed that the clearcoat on the 2007 Safari, had two circular spots where the clearcoat has peeled off. they're each about the size of a quarter, these two spots are on the upper driver side toward the front of the trailer, but they're definitely on the side panel, almost to the roof. Does anyone know what can be causing this, and is there a way to buff the spots and apply a touch-up coat of clear coat over the buffed area?

I can get pictures if needed.

Please and thank you,

Pat

If there is no sign of physical damage, my guess would be bird poop or tree sap which broke down the clear coat. The clear coat is pretty tough and the filiform corrosion you will read about here on the forum actually burrows under it without the clear coat breaking. If the spots are not corroded, there is no need to buff them before covering with some type of colorless paint or lacquer. A handy type is sold as touch-up paint in auto supply stores. In a pinch, clear nail polish will also work. Whatever you use, apply it carefully and without a lot of brushing over the same spot.
