Clear Coat
Can anyone recommend a good brand of lacquer to use on an airstream. When I picked up my new trailer there are two real small scratches in the clear coat, I thought that I could tape around the area and spray just the effected area.
Dealer 3 hours away so will not go back for this.
Thanks George

if it is truly lacquer, you can't get bad, plus it does not age, in the can.
Lacquer will melt the old stuff and blend together.
If only small scratch, maybe just some clear nail polish, ask to use before taking though.
but really...two small scratches on a camper... you know your not going to win this war.

I'd consult with Airstream before I sprayed lacquer. Lacquer will lift some finishes just like a stripper. Probably somebody here knows for sure.

Airstream and their dealers sell a felt type touch up pen that is ready to apply on small nix and scratches.
They can mail it to you, at least I know the Jackson Center web site will, that is where I got mine.

Depending on your type of aluminum (that is the strangest word)...scratches will polish out of the alclad type pretty well. Also consider 'Plasti-coat' as a clear that is known to have been used on Airstreams to begin with. And , of course Andy R at inland is THE MOST IN THE KNOW PERSON for correct information conscerning Airstreams themselves. Take note of the antenna area of our 70 model...When I removed the defective antenna - I tied a string to the inner wire - so not to lose it. Then it time the Oklahoma wind here, blew the string back and forth against the skin below that it left this 'burnished' looking place. Well, a good rubbing compound like 'Gravel in a bottle' by 3M will polish out the scratch. I will use my cyclo to repair this when the afternoons are cooler. Oh- by the way, behind Angel and covering the windows is an aluminum type bubble sheeting/ insulation that we are using to deflect the afternoon sun...works pretty good!

Don't waste your money....
It took awhile but I finally realized...If you want the longest lasting clear for small areas...It's a high quality nail polish, hard as rocks, second choice, brush on auto clearcoat, The stuff JC sells is Ford.
