Bumper Paint

I recently had to straighten the bumper on my 86 Soveriegn (after I hit it with the mower). Well, now the bumper needs a new coat of gray paint. Is there a special Airstream bumper paint I should use or can I get by with a $5.00 can of paint from one of the big box stores?

Thanks,

Greg

Get the hardware store Metallic Charcoal.

Airstream has it at almost 4 times the price of other stores, but it's an exact color match.

My buddy has a press that we secured the bent end into (about the last 16 inches of the curb side end). Then we were able to use the leverage of the rest of the bumper to pull it straight. Kinda crude but it worked well. I just need to put some new paint on it now. Any idea what a replacement bumper would cost?

Wally world sells a charcoal grey that is more than acceptable to do the job. I saw one that had been painted with it and didn't know it wasn't original.

A new polished aluminum bumper costs over $350.00, plus shipping.

Many owners like the polished look instead of painted.
