Blue paint

I was wondering if anyone know the color and type of paint that is used for the lettering, side landyacht, and the model and name plates? Are there replacement colors? Is this something where I could use krylon or something? Any information would help?!
Thanks,
Rick

Blue Paint

Rick,

We went to Walmart and in the crafts department we found paint marker pens that are the Airstream Blue. They work really well.

Good Luck.

hi- I used Rustoleum "royal blue", I believe. I see I also have a small jar of "ocean blue" left over too, I think I tried that first and decided the royal was a better match. I have an international, so also used Rustoleum "apple red gloss" for that nameplate, and white. Have fun!- tim

I'm in the process of doing some exterior work to my 81 exella 2, and I'm glad this thread came up. I've decided to do a low budget shine to the skin that I started last week, and since all the blue decal going around the unit was cracked, and faded I stripped all of this off, and removed my excella letters on the front, and sides. The "airstream" letters on the rear looked too difficult to remove, so I just stripped the blue decal from around them. There is no paint on either the excella, or airstream letters, and I can't tell what they were like originally. Are the letters usually blue? I was going to just pollish the letters leaving them as a polished metal on a blue background. I'm having the stipe painted on next week. Should I just have the letters painted as well?
Thanks: Charlie

In looking closer at my letters I can see that the "airstream" letters were painted blue. I can't tell if the "excella" letters were painted, but I think they must have been since they don't pollish very well.

About the lettering? Was each letter completely blue? Or was the front trim and sides aluminum coloring? I see in tphan's pic the lettering but, I'm unaware of the side coloring? I tend to agree on the Royal blue. Sail blue is very close also, but a hair lighter

From what I can find on my lettering the Airstream letters where fully blue, but it appears that the Excella 2 letters were blue on the sides, and polished on the fronts. I stopped by the airstream dealer to see about the decal, and was able to get the dupont paint code that they recomend. I'm sorry that I don't have the code at the moment since I left it with the shop that is painting the stripe, but if you would like I could get it. If you're only doing a small area, or just the letters I'm sure the rustoleum royal blue would be a more economical choice.
