Black letters peeling
What's the best fix for the black airstream letters peeling on my 2004 Bambi? (Both front and back) Are they glued on?

Hi cutterbug. The plushy soft plastic AIRSTREAM letters? Is this what awaits us all? I believe they are applied from a sheet and have a tape-like adhesive.
Has your '04 been stored inside or outside?

All my lettering turned "Pink"!
They used to be gold.. so I am told. The friendly airstream dealer told me its about $600+ to replace all the lettering. So now I call it salmon colored. Im good with that.

There is a certain amount of moisture in Vinyl cutouts...when the moisture gets up and leaves, then the edges will begin to tell you so. Same thing happens with a roll of masking tape at its edge on the roll. There is no fix that I know of for now other than to replace them.

Hi, I think the trailers with the "Pink" letters are girls.

Hi, my A/C shroud was cracking so after a few searches, I ordered a new one from "ICON -Direct". This one has a limited lifetime warranty and they say it will be the last one that you will ever buy. It is made out of a different kind of plastic, actually thinner. The shape is slightly different, but a perfect fit. I ordered mine through E-bay. I was going to save my original shroud, but it broke more just putting it in the box and removing it. I started to cut it up with an electric saw, but it just crumbled. I ended up breaking it into small pieces with my bare hands to put it in my trash can. For the $105.00 for a new shroud, I think you should replace yours too.

Bob,
Did you paint it, or is that how it came? Looks great.
Maybe instead of replacing the AS decal, I'll go with a nice "Cloudsplitter" one from the sign shop....30 bucks for the pair.
When we first got our trailer I had the normal black tank vent leak.
While up there I noticed both the skylight cracks and the AC shroud cracks.
Guess JC figger's we never go up there on our PDI any way.

Hi, Robert. My A/C shroud came as it looks, white. They also have them in black. I just went to their site and it is $99.50, but I ordered mine from them through E-bay. I thought about putting AIRSTREAM letters on each side, but I like it plain. The pictures are of my original A/C shroud and only show one of the cracks.

Bobstream....my unit is stored under cover....20x30 shelter open sides. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet sooner or later and buy letters....either that.....let the little puffy letters go and have a professional paint them on once and for all.

You could let them fall off. Everybody knows it is an Airstream.
If the black letters turn to pink, does that mean the trailer had a sex change operation?

We got a little tube of something at AutoZone, especially made for decals, etc. It worked fine. We eventually had to replace them, ordered a set from JC and off we went.

I don't recall, exactly, but I think $20-$25. They look lovely.

I don't think it will, anytime soon.
I believe the letters were affected by our well-intentioned placement of a cover over our Interstate. Winds pulled the cover around, the cover moving chipped off bits of the letter. Lots of problems with the cover, overall, which we are no longer using.

I have never used a cover. This is an 8 year old unit....so I'm guessing every 8 years or so, we'll have to replace. Just not something you would expect. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but, after having many older model Airstreams. (89 Excella, 4 different Argosy models, A Sovereign, An Ambassador, Airstream RV Cutter) We have NEVER had to deal with these picky little issues at every turn.(restores and upgrades for 30 year old units sure...but not this.) I would expect sticky tape emblems on SOB's but not Airstreams. A problem fixed...should be problem done.

First time I washed mine (two weeks ago), two letters, and some of the pin striping began to separate.
I agree with you in principle, but reality tells me that ain't gonna happen.
I'm almost of the mind to remove the damn things and put up with folks asking me what kind of trailer I have.
Point being, I don't think there are too many other coaches with the distinctive design of the AS, and the additional embellishment doesn't make it that much more functional.
