Argosy 20' Paint Job

Well after working since 6 am this morning, I finally finished up the paint on the Argosy. I even managed to threaten the Box Elder bugs enough that they didn't dare land on the paint! I hate painting outside but that's the only place I have available. Total cost including 5 gallons of stripper was about $650 for materials. Epoxy primer followed by 2 part Acrylic Urethane. Now for the new brakes followed by the new tires and painted rims to match plus baby moons!

Looks great! Did you spray it or brush/roller it?

Brush! Did you say BRUSH?!? NOOOOOO!!! With that type of paint investment, a good Binks or Sata paint gun goes a long way to do a great paint job. There are paints that can be rolled on which are primarily used for boats like Interlux epoxies and they can come out ok but will rarely have the look of a sprayed paint job p[lus they are extremely messy and take a long time to dry. Been there done that. While I don't care for working with urethanes as they are really toxic and have a 20 minute tack time ( the time the bugs can still assult your otherwise paint job), they are almost foolproof on the results.

One more question, since I am mentally colorblind ( I do not match colors well) how about some opinions on a new awning color. The one I have which has a bad cover section is green and white stripes running out and more of a dark green which doesn't go. The awning is a carefree unit.

Hmm - for an awning I would go with Gray (nice, safe, sedate, hides dirt) or you could rock the house and go with that seafoam color you have on the lower half. I would avoid stripes or put them in the other orientation. Here's a link to sunbrellas show room for some ideas Sunbrella:

I'm thinking along the same lines as Janet. Aquamarine, gray, or possibly even khaki.

Some color swatches will help you determine the best color for your application.
