Application of exterior blue trim on 1965Overlander

We want to apply the blue (vinyl?) exterior trim on our 1965 Overlander. Nothing we have tried is successful in getting the trim to stay in the channel.

I'm pretty sure that on a 1965 trailer the blue trim was actually painted in the channel. That's why there isn't a lip there. Splitrock, your delusion is still intact. On a 1976, there definitely is a channel that the stuff practically jumps into (I had a 1976 Overlander at one time).

Look if there is actually a lip on your 1965 trailer. I don't think you'll find one (someone else will definitely chime in here!).

It's true. No lip on a 65.I removed the trim line on my 65, sanded, compounded, polished and reinstalled with rivets then masked , and painted over rivets with Sail Blue.Looks great.I also did the same on the bottom trip thin line.
