Anyone replaced the blue stripes on their trailer ??

I'm getting ready to remove and replace the blue stripes on my trailer.

I'd appreciate any tips or advice from anyone that has done this.

I thought maybe I would use a heat-gun and see if that would soften the old tape adhesive alittle.

Maybe there's some kind of solvent that works,..I just don't know.

That should be an easy job...but, if that's all you're gonna replace (?) you will want to take care that you don't get it on your clearcoat...
About three years ago, I inquired at the factory while there visiting about blue stripping and, I gotta tell you, "There's not much of it available". Certain things, like your Airstream's Model name, are not available as well.
At least from the factory.
If you have found a source that you care to share, I know ALOT of us would be interested in that information.
Are you planning on polishing your unit?

I did infact strip off the Clear Coat....it was starting to peel in a few places and look bad.

I've been polishing on it for what seems like YEARS, ..even though I just bought it this last December ! ha!

I STILL have the top-half of one side to finish up on...maybe with a few warm days coming I can tackle it some more. I swear that thing seems to get Bigger and Bigger each time I work on it.

Thankfully, ALOT of you guys have saved my Butt a time or two
since I started that project !

My Stripeing has flaked off in a few places. And Now that the "trailer skin" is starting to look good, the stripe looks bad....

There may be "No End" to this !!

As far as Color and Size selection, I've got a selection chart from 3M,..and also take a look at the web-site of www.stripeman.com.

I don't think I want to go back with the "Origional Stripe" design
anyway. I've got some ideas I think will look very nice and clean, ....if it turns out well, I may post a picture.

If it does'nt...In Fustration I may just go with a "Duct Tape" Stripe !! ha!

If you think polishing is tuff, wait until you get into stripe removal.

Slow careful process. There are alternatives to Stripeman and their prices.

Top of the pricing scale is 3M but some could arhue , you get what you pay for.

You can use some "off the shelf" stripes from a boating supply store.

the stripping part, save your heat time and move straight to Aircraft stripper. As astated above, if this stuff gets on clear coat, it is instantly gone.

These are new stripes on the unit I am selling.

For what it's worth I found the 3M stripes at my local Body Shop supply for $53 for 50 feet. They are available in a multitude of sizes and colors. If you don't want to do it yourself, you can go to a shop that does vinyl lettering for service vans etc. They can do it for you, though it'll cost. Just my .02 cents.
