Airstream Names Faded

Airstream names on our 67 GT are faded. How do we restore? Rustoleum Royal Blue Spray can. Mask tape and spray the lettering? Or use Spa Blue with a paintbrush? Need exact directions. Need your help. Thanks

Here's another option if your less inclined to do all of the work yourself.

This is what I did (go to post #1 to view pic). It didn't take that much time and really turned out great. Plus I didn't have to spend $50 on new ones. Get some good masking tape, an exacto knife, and a can of royal blue spray paint. If you go this route make sure you clean the nameplates well so the paint doesn't fisheye.

The way I'd do it...

Spray paint into spraycan lid and apply with brush. Brushed on paint is thicker than spray. Wipe area of any excess/slop paint and I'm done.

We masked, cut & sprayed with the royal blue Rustoleum too. Still looks great 5 years later ~

Did the same - took about an hour from start to finish for each. Clean the surface well with alcohol, put plenty of newspaper on the surrounding area for overspray. Makes the AIRSTREAM name jump out on the trailer from a distance.

that's exactly what kevin teatz did on DIY network. i was so excited to do that when i bought my airstream, but i bought a 56 flying cloud and it doesn't have the cool lettering.

Chris...what a super site..restoration of 65 Carvel. I had a slight problem viewing the slide show. Three or so photos would be available and then it would stop. Should that be so slow? I am going to go back to the site again. There is a lot to still see. You have done a super project. Thank you all.
