2008 Safari exterior trim

We have a 2008 Safari 25FB. We have a piece of exterior trim that is falling off. It's located between the charcoal gray colored bottom and where the aluminum meet.

What can we use to put it back on with?

any help would be appreciated

Good quality 3M double sided tape, available at Auto Parts Stores.

Sounds like the "rub rail" is loose.

It's riveted in place at the factory.

Remove the insert from that metal molding and you should find sheared rivets.

Reinstall the rivets, and then reinstall the vinyl insert.

Then check the running gear balancing. That is more than likely the cause of the rivets shearing, which is vibration.

You can add "Centramatic" balancers to remedy that issue.

The piece your talking about is still screwed on the trailer. The trim that covers the screws has sticky type stuff on the back of the trim to hold the trim on......that's what is falling off. We want to know what to use to put it back in place.

Sounds like the chrome finished vinyl insert is falling off (like has happened to many). Follow Colin's suggestion or use the 3M adhesive glue. Some people have also put a rivet in near the ends of this insert to ensure it stays put.

I just got finished replacing all my insert (it was 9 years old and faded and cracked). The insert comes new from the factory with the two sided 3M tape.

We considered replacing our insert strip a few weeks ago. The silver is fading badly and although the strip is well adhered, it just won't clean up the way the rest of the trailer does. So we shopped it at the Airstream store at Florida State Rally. It was expensive, $2.19 per foot. We decided ours (6 years old) looks not so bad after all. Back burner issue again.

We reattached our loose chrome/vinyl trim with 3M Plastic and Emblem Adhesive, #08061, which worked well for us.

Thanks folks. We are going to look around for the 3M plastic and emblem adhesive #08061. We have a few auto supply stores in the area.

We can't do anything until it warms up. We may have to wind up the trim and duct tape it behind the rock guards until we get to Florida. If we fix it in Florida it will have a few weeks to cure before we have to head home.
