Have you seen one of these?

I know this isn't a Integrity but it is a 5th wheel, It doesn't look home made.

Many years ago, a large aircraft overhaul center at the San Antionio airport, was converting an Airstream trailer into a fifth wheel, for the owner of the company.

For them, it was a piece of cake, since they modify commercial jets as well.

This quite well could be that unit.

I saw these photos a couple years ago. But I don't remember where. Either here or Craigslist.

Has anyone seen one of these?

Almost always sunny here unless there is a hurricane bearing down on you. And then it's time to hook up the burb and roll. So far I've been very lucky.

Would that have been the Dee Howard company?

Yes it was.

Thanks for reminding me of the name.

It was done in the early 70's, when I was with the Insurance division of Airstream.

Umm..

Love the 5th wheel... Can't say that the Air-onado is very appealing personally. Looks like someone did things right...Don't look thrown together.

Interior pictures of both would be very interesting.

The fifth wheel is kind of appalling at first glance, but kind of cool too. It does look like someone knew what they were doing when they did it. I'm curious about the interior too.

Its kind of reminiscent of a passenger train car to me. That would be a cool interior them.

I met someone on the road that knew the owner; said the hardest part of the
job was the steering; claimed he solved it with a chain-drive!

The 5th wheel is neat. Paint is faded but nice. Unit is located on Gruene Road in city limits of new Braunfels, Texas. Drove by it about an hour ago.

Airstream 5th wheel

Here is another Airstream 5th wheel I found on the SNU web site.It looks home made and a long fall out the front door.

This is one of the better 5th wheel bullets I've seen. I kind of like it. I, too, would love to have a tour of the interior. My only criticism is that I think there might have been a little smoother transition between the upper and lower roofs. But I can see the reason and like the idea of the clerestory windows. I think it's cool that it's a double door model, too. Wonder if it's the traditional upper bedroom and rear living room or if it's a two bedroom with center living room.

It is a customer modified product originally manufactured by Airstream, Inc. As a member of WBCCI I would argue that it has as much right to be admitted to WBCCI as any other customized Airstream that wasn't returned to factory condition or layout. I would think the owner could argue that if you allow a rear bath to mid-bath conversion then you would have to allow this one in. It just takes that idea several steps further.
