Your Airstream's Name?

One of the things I have noticed since purchasing our first Airstream...many owners give their traveling companion a name (mostly feminine names). Years ago I learned the importance of imparting a personal identity to my possessions. Giving a name conveys a sense of appreciation to the seemingly inanimate objects that tirelessly serve us. Those objects just plain behave better when they feel bonded with us, when they feel part of our family, when they have a name all their own...so what is the name of your Airstream? Ours:

"Island Girl" - 1978 Ambassador
" ? " - 1960 Overlander - waiting for a name

My grandson called it "The Rivit" not Rivet so it has a name now.

Sabre Dog III

I was an instructor many tears ago in the F-86D Sabre, known to fighter pilots everywhere as the "Dog." This is the 3rd Airstream to carry the name.

We named our AS after my mother-in-law, Betty. She has a little bounce to her, is getting up there in the years, but most of all she is all about having fun. Besides I do all of my mother-in-laws odd jobs, lawn and house upkeep, so I'll just do the same thing for the AS. And, at the end of the day, we'll still have a Brandy Manhatten (that's a Wisconsin thing) together...

Ours is "The Iron Giant", after the movie. Our 6 year old came up with it. She named our Great Dane "Mt. Everest" so we think she's on a roll with naming.

I still haven't got a name for my girl yet. It's a 1950 Airstream Liner 22'. I'm almost done with the restoration but have been camping in it since I bought; even though it was gutted at some point I still used it. Now nearly complete my daughter (7yr) and I have enjoyed it this summer and I have a few trips planned for this winters camping season here in Florida. I hope to give her a name soon.

The Tuna can!

And if our Pekingnese is particularly stinky, he wins "Frito Man" or "Frito Feet" in the tuna can!

The '69 is Buttercup.

Haven't settled on a name yet, but I'm leaning toward "Rosie - the Riveted"

Silver Sabre

Our 1979 Airstream 28' motorhome is named the Silver Sabre. My son is a competitive sabre fencer and when his tournaments are close enough to drive to we take the coach for transportation and lodging.

In keeping with the 70s theme (our girl was born in 1970), her name is "Maude."
