Talking This Sunday is Canada's 145th Birthday!

So Happy Birthday to all you Canadians out there! And also to you visiting Americans, too!

This is also the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. Sort of an odd thing to imagine, that we were once at war with the USA, but it did set us on the path that eventually lead to us becoming a country, independent from Great Britain.

Happy birthday later next week to the USA, too!

Aage,

Happy Birthday to our neighbors to the north, and many many more peacefull years to come. Sometime tonight, I'll raise a mug and point it north, salute!

Gary

My only what were we thinking Ohio to Canada story. Back in high shcool we decided to take a 16' Crestliner and cross Lake Erie from (IIRC) Marble Head to Leamington and back in a day stopping at Pelee for fuel. What a long day, but we all lived to tell about it.

My grandparents and many of their friends spoke of Canada as "over home". Now, I'm wed to a wonderful Canadian lady, and spend nearly as much time in Ontario as in our Northern NY home.
