Perfect Camping Music Playlist

For bright, upbeat instrumentals, I always enjoy selections from The Nuclear Whales -- and the Bugler's Holiday is one of their greats.

Another option for upbeat if there are old car fans in the audience is "Beep-Beep!" (The Little Nash Rambler) by The Playmates.

Normally I like it quiet camping, unless I'm strumming a guitar. However, If I have annoying neighbors, I put on a bagpipe music CD -carried only for this purpose- and turn it up a "tad".

On the road, it's my Sirius sat. radio, with "Willie's Place" at the top of the playlist.

My perfect camping playlist has now split into three thanks to some of your suggestions. One is a little country, one's more rock, and one is smooth jazz.

On that country/alt-country/folk-ish list I'm adding:

...
Shelby Lynne -- Track 12 (Rainy Nights in Georgia)
...
I love it when I can break a new song to people.

I searched for "Shelby Lynne" here on the forums before I posted, but did not find this news.

She's releasing a new album April 20th. I just heard a track from the new album called "Somethin' to be said"

And the lyric that made me slow down the car, turn up the stereo, listen intently and then grin widely

"Something to be said about an Airstream trailer"

Yep, it's a song with a chorus that talks about airstreams. So, once that comes up, I imagine that many 'streamers will be checking iTunes and downloading that cut.

I'm going to ask my colleague who played the track if she got extra copies of the CD or not (as promos for the pre-release) and see if I can get a copy!

A shiny new airstream song!

Shelby Lynne is her website.

So, to rudely reply to my own post, I'll try to add a clip if I can, and a little of the lyrics, as I heard them.

There's something to be said about airstreams
A rollin' home
Made out of silver
There's somethin' to be said about airstreams
Oh who'd of thought art was a trailer

It's a pretty mellow song, let's see if I can attach a clip, which I think would certainly be fair use. The album is out on April 20, so you'll have to wait til then to buy it.

Okay, won't let me upload a clip. So...

That ought to do. Cheers!

As I'm heading out, "On the Road Again", by Willie Nelson. Don't even have to play it, it just starts going through my head...

I am a big fan of acoustic guitar around the camp and one of my favorite players is Don Ross. Not that I can play this well but I would love to!

It helps that this is my sons name...

Another one of my absolute favorite guitar groups is Del Castillo.

Thanks for sharing, what an incredible child.

When I want to sit back and relax, I've added: What a wonderful world - Louis Armstrong, and Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison (original song)

anything by james mcmurtry, hays carll, john kilzer, chris knight and more than any other stephen bruton (the guy who's life 'crazy heart' was based on.) listen to he and john kilzer's 'fading man.' if this doesnt crease your heart then you are dead but unwilling to admit it.
