New Game: Mondegreen For You
A
mondegreen is the misinterpretation of a line or lyric in a song due to
homophony . The results can be funny ..Add yours here and state where it originally comes from!
Example of a mondegreen:
There's a bathroom on the right - (the line at the end of each verse of "
Bad Moon Rising " by
Creedence Clearwater Revival : "There's a bad moon on the rise")
Or: The dogs say good night - (the line in the song "What a Wonderful World" by George Davdid Weiss and Bob Thele) "the dark sacred night"

Did you HEAR about BETTY?
"
Betty's gonna be a man some day"
Should be:
"I
Bet He's gonna be a man some day"
Roly Poly
I had an experienced musician friend comment to me just yesterday about how wierd the lyrics are in that song. Why? You guessed it! He thought it was about
"Betty "! Doh!!!

Don't forget Howard!
How about the Lord's Prayer classic: "Howard be thy name."

I love them all, too funny!
After watching "Joe Cocker at Woodstock", I realize hearing is not the issue. I commend all, on our ability to comprehend anything remotely resembling words. Give yourselves a pat on the back for having survived that era, with your brain intact.
Rock On!!!!!!!!!

"We are weak-butt" (we are weak, but he is strong - from "Jesus loves me")
As a kid I always wondered what weak-butt was....
