While down in Cabo San Lucas this last week, we pulled off the road to Todas Santos
at Cerritos Beach mile (km) marker 68 to check out a surf spot. Lo and behold there were TWO
Airstreams there. The first was an apparently well loved mid-70's Overlander. The second we had noooo
At first we thought it might be a second "Der Klein Prinz
". So, what do you think is the deal with this one???
It was chopped in length, width & height!!! Talk about a total restoration - from what we could see, it was done pretty well (except for pop-rivets) for what it is. The front & back windows were former side windows, the door was shortened, the shell was split - it looked like it was mounted on a flat-bed trailer for the frame - but the overall integrity was kinda still intact. It was basically the two endcaps & the door - about 9 feet long. It was only about 7'+/- tall...the door was even shortened.
Sure wish we could have checked out the inside...not much more than a bed I would imagine. It's parked next to a bar which is close enough to "facilities" for an average surfer-dude
that would call it home. Can't beat the view ~
If only it could talk ~ all I know is it isn't a 1960
Ambassador any longer!
