Talking How Much Money Could Your AS Hold?

I thought this might be fun math, (well, maybe not for the algebra haters). I'll go first.

Let's say you were excavating for a new pool and a storage barn for your dear AS, and you dug up piles and piles of money- crisp conveniently spendable $20 bills. The only way to transport these windfalls, would be in your AS, of course. How many twenties could you legally haul weight wise? (We're not addressing volume or square inches.)

My 2017 22' Bambi lists a GVWR at 4500 lbs, minus the dry base weight of 3634, which leaves 866 lbs. of payload. 640 twenty dollar bills weigh one pound. So, I could haul 554,240 twenties worth $11,084,800!

Not bad for a little Sport!

Now one of you stripped down and gutted 30' Sovereign owners is going to pull up and blow me off the road!

Curious about your weight number. Did you weigh your own cash (640 20s)? Seems 490 is the number. LINK

Are we calculating based upon the new Rainbow currency...I presume this is U.S.A. based paper.

640 was a number based on weighing and multiplying the old twenty's, without metal strip, multi color printing and possibly heaver paper. I would like to check the newer bills to verify, but if 490 proves to be correct, then modern money seems to have a greater weight to value ratio, (higher ratio between wt and value).

I don't know, but I want to get one of those drawers in my Airstream like the one Ben Affleck has in his in "The Accountant". The drawer with rolls of 100 dollar bills, Euros, and maybe a few gold coins too! I could use that!

How Much Money Could Your AS Hold?

All I know, from a mechanical designer I worked with, a stack of 20s a foot high is worth about $20,000 dollars!
He pulled out a micrometer and a $20 then calculated that number was about $20,000 based on the number of bills in the theoretical stack.

$20K at 1 foot sounds about right. I had several such stacks once after selling a farm to an Amish man... for cash. There was ALSO 2 stacks of $100's and by the calculation above at 1 foot should have been about $100K each, though I didn't use a ruler at the time! When I got to the local bank, you might imagine the reaction... until I said "Amish." Then they understood.
This particular sect eschewed banks and apparently had some sort of community "vault." One group lost -according to other Amish sources- over $900,000 cash in a house fire.

My Amish neighbors were ever fascinated by my Airstream motorhome, and when I would transport a large group of them a long distance, they preferred the MH to my van. They called the Airstream "The Silver Rocket Ship" and would gladly pay extra because of the higher fuel costs to run it as opposed to the van. Alles ist gut!

Boats, RV's Planes are all money pits. The BEST were an older Avion and my Airstream Motor Home. Neither had all the usual odd things continuously going askew. Now if I still had that sweet old rig...
