It's John Wayne week on Turner Classic Movies.

And on a completely unrelated note, is all mayonnaise completely devoid of taste in the low cal, low fat world we live in these days?

Just a couple observations.

Comcast took TCM away from our plan last year. Total bummer. It may eventually lead to complete cancellation of cable in this house (what with Hulu and Netflix and .... to fill the gap).

Speaking of gaps, what the hell happened to CNN? You used to be able to tune in and get news any time day or night. OK, maybe Anthony Bourdain can crowd out the news, BUT NOTHING ELSE.

CNN = complete nonsense now

Mayonnaise? You add salt and pepper in copious amounts, and seasoning as well, and feel good that you are eating healthy mayo according to the label

thanks for the welcome back Jim - doing pretty well. Don't spend much time on the computer at present - busy rebuilding the '57 Safari and enjoying the Tradewind. I do check in and read from time to time, just enjoy the reading more than the sayin.......

Barry, I haven't seen you for years, but i'm spending less time here also. However, salt doesn't make healthy mayo healthy.

And this reminds me I have to call Dish and cut back on all this garbage they are charging me more and more for every year. I hate paying for channels I don't want to get a few I do want. TCM is one I do want. I expect Comcast has an old movie channel of its own. CNN has become a joke, but if you want to hear Wolf Blitzer (is he on speed?) go apoplectic about some trash found in the Indian Ocean, CNN is for you. The most objective news channel is now Al Jazeera—just news and a lot more international news than on the other "news" channels. Don't let the name scare you away—they're doing a much better job than the others.

Enough complaining….

RT (sponsored by Russian govt) is also good. I haven't seen as much propaganda on it as I expected, but I haven't seen it since the Ukraine flared up. What the heck has happened to our media?

Hah! I hijacked the thread and you, the OP, got sucked in. I haven't felt so good in minutes.

But, to digress, why is Lead, SD, pronounced "Leed" and why isn't Led Zepellin spelled "Lead"? Now the lead story in a newspaper is spelled "lede" to further confuse me.

I find the best news I get is over the fence from my neighbors. They've vetted it, added their own tidbits to spice it up a bit more, and usually are about as accurate as anything else. I enjoy the conspiracy stories - a person could write a good book and call it "things I've learned over the fence".

Since we're talking news, We've bought a manufactured home in a co-op 55+ park in Florida. The class C is sold to be delivered to Erie, PA next week, and the class A will get advertised and sold upon our return the following week. I'm in Northern NY, and may look for another small Airstream for adventures based out of Florida. There sure are lots of Airstreams available from private owners and estates in FL - Gods Waiting Room.

Well, it's been five months, has everybody run out out of new material?

I have a subject that might be worth exploring. Turns out, I may have to appear as a witness in a civil lawsuit in FEDERAL court in a few months. No, I'm not a happy camper. Anybody have a sure-fire cure for nervous flatulence? Last thing I want to do is clear the courtroom.

Gene, you out there? Any help is appreciated.

I understand a chunk of cork that has an interferance fit might be useful unless of course you are looking to give the 'Dakotas some competition.

A thread on Hijacking Forum Threads....... Is now one which might be called "Airstream Humor" ...... LOL. maybe someone needs to start a thread called "Too Lazy to Start a New Thread".

My first thought when I saw this thread was that it was about personal safety when traveling on the road with our Airstreams.

Oh well.

So, anybody have any cautionary tales about problems on the road or camping?
Ever been hijacked? Picked up a hitchhiker? Done something else dumb?

Not dumb to pick up hitchhikers in Indian territory. You should feel obligated anywhere in the Navajo or Hopi Nations.
