So, I get home from work tonight and the nearly new, yet out of warranty, LCD HD TV is dead. ArGGG!! Spend an hour on the phone trying to get a repairman out to the house.

Susan comes home from a meeting and says "Come on outside we've got to cover the hay bales."

"Why", I ask.
"Because it's going to rain tonight", says she.
"But aren't we going to use it this weekend for the Halloween festival? Rain isn't going to hurt hay that is about to be 'used hay'", he logically responds.
"Um, we have to take it back after we use it, or he'll charge us for it", she who MUST be obeyed responds.

At this point all I can muster is "You rented hay? Why did you RENT hay?" Number one child is standing on the sidelines laughing hysterically at this point.

Some days life is just too weird.

Jim

Jim, I think I have the answer.

Beer is made out of grains.

Hay is a grain.

You only rent beer.

Thus, you rent hay.

And you should've rented the TV.

I hope it gets better.

The last thread on that got kind of heated and was closed.

Besides I want a bailout for the Auburn Company so we can have Cords, Deusenbergs and Auburns again.

I'd like to see Packard back.

Years ago a local barkeep in our town was very small but always drove a big Packard. The cronies referrred to him as their "short-Packard friend".

I think Auburns were going for $600-800 at the end of the road—maybe 1938. They were all guaranteed to go at least 100 mph and really were good cars for the day. AC show quality Boattail Speedster will get well over $100,000 today. I'd settle for coupe.

The Auburn museum is in Auburn, Indiana is is at the company hdqrs which included a dealership as well. They have a good representation of the company's products plus a lot of other vehicles going back to the 1890's. It's the best classic car museum we've been to (twice). When you see the room where they designed the cars compare it to what companies have now—whole towns of designers who have computers to help them.

Speaking of AUBURN, did anyone have toys from the Auburn Rubber Co.when growing up? These toys were small and durable. I had several trucks and a motorcycle with rider. I still have an Auburn Jeep FC-150 pickup. The only things not rubber on these toys were the axles. The company started out making tires for the Auburn automobiles.

While we're wishing for automotive rebirths, how about a revival of the classic aluminum Airstream motorhome?
