No, I got my 3-letter pass, no sweat. It was the 4-letter guys. Believe it or not they called me back 4 years later and still didn't bite. But it was one hell of a fun interview...In the end I'm glad to have gone on a different path--lots of fun flying then and lots of fun managing since.

Had an interesting conversation with a fellow at a doctors office today while waiting our turn. He had an unusual accident. He was laying under his trailer (5th wheel SOB) trying to fix the 3" dump valve, which was sticking, and which he'd been pulling trying to get it to open. He knew it to be empty. He was unaware his wife had been doing clean up and such in the trailer over the prior weekend and suddenly had a need and used the facilities. Realizing that it was probably empty, like any good wife she put chemical in it. A lot of chemical it seems. Meanwhile, his efforts were rewarded and the valve opened as he was looking in. It wasn't what hit him in the face that was so much of a problem - he was near a garden hose and spent some time under it cursing himself, his wife, the trailer, and pretty much everything else in the world. It was the fact that as it hit him he inhaled, with his mouth open. He has gotten very sick. From the chemicals, the other "stuff", and can't seem to get the smell out of his nostrils either.

I had a straight face for almost all of it till he got to the garden hose part. So did the receptionist. We laughed so hard she had to run to the washroom. I thought I was going to run out of oxygen and collapse on the floor. He, on the other hand, was perhaps a tad miffed. He said he got the same reaction from the doctor and nurses at the hospital and thought they were unprofessional. His neighbors laughed too, and his wife drove him to the hospital and laughed all the way there, and home.

I thought you'd all get a kick out of this. I am still laughing when I think about it. I even tried to apologize but I was laughing too hard to get it out straight. He had such a straight almost deadpan face but I'm sure he knew how funny it was. Anyway, he was in seeing the doctor when I left and the receptionist was still giggling.

So far 2 times I had the connections screwed onto the sewer hose securely and as tight as it could go and then it came apart as soon as I opened the grey water valve. Fortunately it has never happened with the black water. One time it seemed 50 gallons out of the nearly 40 in the tank came out on the ground and my pants. I wasn't sure whether to close the valve first or look around to see whether the campground people were watching me break another rule. I hate those hoses and I want to know who loosened the connection when I wasn't looking.

Thanks Barry for the story. I will remember not to open the valve while lying on my back under the pipe.
