as long as man has inhabited the planet (50,000 years) we've been infected by.....

malaria which is caused by a red blood cell infestation of various plasmodium species...

carried by the anopheles mosquitoes,

and then it's only the females critters that transmit it 2 us.

so unless your rear end was somewhere in the tropics during this extraction u r safe....

otoh, the name malaria comes from old italian for 'bad air'

it was long thought that the stinky air in swamps and marsh was the cause of malairia...

this lead to the practice of holding a handkerchief to the nose,

often with a dab of toilet water for flavoring to mask the 'bad air'...

we've got some pretty strange old beliefs.

so in one sense you DID have mal-aria given the site of your adventure.

quinine was the first effective treatment, taken from the bark of the cinchona tree....

this tree grows in the high mountains of the andes

and those roving jesuits carried it back to europe for extraction...

the brits, not wanting to waste a good 'mixer' developed tonic water

which originally contained a theraputic dose of quinine; now it's just a wiff...

so gin and tonic was a tropical drink consumed for medicinal purposes...

to fight the malaria...

and i'd suggest we all have one (gin/tonic) NOW...

before the ebay auction of this infamous oral-B!

cheers

...would one be considered a terrorist if one were to "go of-topic" on any other thread than this one? Would someone send in the "troops" for forums peace? ...probably not supposed to discuss politics among "friends" or is that religion.

I can't help myself, was taugh by Jesuits!... ... ... ... ?
