The TV weighs only about a third of the weight of the trailer. You think there might be some other things to consider?

Part of the difference between the two, is the six cylinder engines used have hundreds of horsepower, and tons of torque, because of their sheer size.
Another difference is the way the truck and trailer are connected. Ever see WD and sway control on a fifth wheel trailer? Although, when one does "get away" from the driver, the results are usually spectacular, and messy at best.

Tractors with trailers have multi-speed axles and 10 to 15 speed trannys. The RPM band is narrow for when power or torque is developed. Get a six with a long stroke and you to can be a trucker. Ford's 300 six could out pull the 302 V-8 and most of the time the 351 V-8. It wasn't as fast, it just could out pull 'em.

Torque is how much an engine will pull, horsepower is how fast it will pull it. We'd better change the subject now, it is starting to look like we are hijacking this thread!

For those of you who have never taken an engine apart, the piston size of a F-350 is about the size of a can of peas. The piston size of a Volvo 6 cyl. diesel is just a little bigger than a 5 lb. coffee can. You do the math. Add to that a total of 32 gear combinations and it doesn't take Enstien to figure out how tractors work vs. our TV's. In addition, we all know you need to factor in the TV wheel base vs. weight distribution vs. stopping power. Tracktor Tailers in combination have 10 braked axles! Also, have you ever riden in a tractor not towing a trailer? It is the worst ride you would ever want to take. But you take out TV with the Airstream and it is a wonderful ride. Just can't compare the two.
