You no longer wonder how the year went by so fast but instead think that about the decade.

Your barber line up is still 10 people deep when you get there but it only takes him a minute or two for each person - and 8 of those in line are having a quick snooze until they hear "next"....

getting older when.....
...Your trip to the barber is more of a social call than a necessity.

Hi, getting older when.......your kids make twice the money you did at their age; And their kids [your grand children] make twice the money of their parents [four times a much as you made] and none of them can afford to live like you do.

Hi, getting older when........the younger generation are smart enough to think you are too old to drive, but not smart enough to figuer out how you backed that trailer into your driveway.

getting older when.....

...Just the faintest whiff of an odor reminiscent of a "retired" perfume scent such as Evening in Paris brings a flood of memories of family gatherings of long ago.

...Evening in Paris was a dime-store perfume, not a gynecologist's report on some tabloid TV show bimbo.

getting older when . . . . . . .

You know that you are getting older when . . . . .

The young mechanic who will be repairing your car makes the remark: "I have read about these monsters but this is the first time that I have ever seen one."

I heard this exact remark this summer when a young Cadillac mechanic was assigned the task of changing the oil and lubricating my '75 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible . . . . that "acre" of hood weighs more than two or three of the hoods on more modern vehicles and the combination 501 cubic inch V8 and front drive tansaxle makes for a massive assemblage of iron and steel under the hood.

getting older when . . . . . .

You know that you are getting older when . . . . . .

Students in your high school Business Organization and Management class display a “blank” stare and ask the question “What is/was that product?” when discussing famous advertising slogans as a means of product promotion (such as):

Ask the man who owns one . . . . (Packard)
Put a tiger in your tank . . . . . .(Esso)
The Spirit of 76 . . . . . (Union 76)
Always give the customer more than you promised . . . . . . (Studebaker)
First by far with a post-war car . . . . . (Studebaker)
Americas entirely new kind of car . . . . . (Nash Metropolitan)
Once you've seen it, you'll never forget it . . . . . . . . (Edsel)
Great cars since 1902 . . . . . (Rambler)

...You pay for cable but can't stand to watch more than half of the shows because the programming is aimed at viewers with the attention span of a gnat.
