First Day as Streamers

We will be starting our maiden voyage as Streamers in a few hours. A couple of questions......

Is it acceptable to associate with other travelers in SOBs, or do we just stick with our own kind?

Is there a secret wave or gesture when passing another Airstream? Any secret handshakes when greeting another streamer?

Please don't stick to your own kind....this will perpetuate the perception that we're all a bunch of snobs!

1) OF COURSE!!! I really hope you do associate with everybody.

2) flash of headlights and a good old wave!

Have FUN, we'll be leaving in a couple hours as well!

Well, we haven't been on our maiden voyage yet....but I'm thinking the peace sign would be an appropriate wave....

Given that you posted under fun & games I got it: So in answer to your two questions.

It is customary to travel with your pink flamingos in the cab of the tow vehicle within easy arm-reach for quick and wild waving out the drivers side window at any passing or oncoming Airstreamers. Everyone knows it's safe to tow at 65mph with only one hand on the wheel and one eye scanning for a party moment.

The secrect society acknowledgement at camp when meeting another Airstreamer is to pose on one leg, with arms above your head, hands pointed down and back slightly crouched - also know as the Pink Flamingo salute (or the kung fu praying mantis) ....

Enjoy your long weekend away! have fun, be safe on the road and don't do anything I wouldn't do

Wendy

GOT ME! I didn't see the "fun and games". I thought the secret handshake was one which carefully hid a snuggled beer, and then handed off at the conclusion of said handshake????????

As you meet or pass another Airstream on the road, a quick two-fingers over the right eyebrow salute will confirm your status as a "member".

The secret handshake is done by placing one hand under your wallet while the other hand retrieves copious amounts of cash for expensive Airstream parts and accessories. Yes, we are an exclusive and expensive club. Do not divulge what you paid to SOB owners. Just smile and nod as if you know something they don't.

Oh yes, and give free tours of your aluminum jewel. Congrats.

Congrats. We are near you and will wave if we see you on the road. I went up to Forks recently and thought about spotting other Airstreams but didn't see any at all.

I think life is so fun when you meet different people from all over the world. Who cares what RV they decided to buy. Everyone has a story-I always say. Embrace, enjoy and safe travels!!!

You can talk to SOB owners, but only when wearing your smoking jacket (man) or little black dress (woman), your WBCCI blue beret (anyone) and carrying a fancy cocktail, preferably in a real (and fancy) cocktail glass. This is to how how suerior and refined we are.

Good decorum must prevail at all times. Never refer to owners of "some other brand" as S.O.B.'s ... at least to their face or within their earshot.

When you meet or pass a S.O.B. on the road, a ONE finger salute will suffice!
