Conceived in an Airstream...

Anybody know someone who was conceived in an Airstream?

I'm gestating a little bun right now that began its journey toward life in my Airstream, either in the Circus Circus KOA sea o' pavement in Las Vegas, some random BLM land north of there or Baker Dam Campground north of St. George, Utah. Vacation sure does get you thinking about life in general, and what you want to do with it. Married for 9 years in July, and we're finally ready to bring another human into our family.

Due date: Dec. 25. I think it'll be a little too cold and drafty to give birth IN the Airstream, but it makes for a fun story about how the process got started!

Babies-

Hi, and congrats!

Mine was either in the Flyin Cloud in the Keys or at our friends place in Miami.

We had a home birth and considered it in our Spartan Mansion, but it was too short notice, we were in Europe when we got the HCG levels at 150, and the great news about our lil guy. We then traveled all over Europe, 13000KM, about 8000 miles, down to Sevilla ESP, up to Costa Blanca, all over the Med, through Andorra, to Mirepoix, back through Paris, over to Germany, Poland. We went at the right time- waiting would have made us crazy. I had false contractions at 33 weeks from riding on a trip to Destin- not that far, but a lot of bouncing and he was on his way. That should be avoided.

We'd have loved to birth him in a trailer, but we didn't want to chance the old insulation, etc. We also went crazy sterilizing the house before having him here- his first breath needed to be a fresh one. We bought some new rugs and thoroughly aired them out before the birth.

My man was concerned about mouse poop hidden in the trailer, so we laid off the Flyin Cloud a bit before the baby came. Still camped, just not so much.

Ladies, moms, do we need a special Trailer Mommy forum? About some of this stuff the Papa's don't really understand?

I'm so in love with my lil guy!

Wow, Ellie, what a cutie. I predict he will be brilliant, gorgeous, and, er, tall!

Did you play BB while preggo? Do you have one of your trailers in Europe?

Far as I know, Wally is not one of the names under consideration! And Stella is already taken by my trailer.

I had the most wonderful pregnancy, my man made sure I had no pressure, we were off season, so I was out and was supposed to play National Team for EU championships, but don't like the system, so I was going to go last minute, games in China and then in Italy, but when I was at 150HCG, decided against any of the stress. still not sure I'll go back and play- so much in love with my lil one!

We keep at least one there, and will take the Flyin Cloud there this summer, and probably our last Bubble. We had 3, sold 2 off and I made it one of our keepers. The Cloud is a great size- like your Safari, not too big, not too small, so we like that one, and think it will work out well for a "bigger" caravan in Europe. some of the pitches are so small its hard to get even that size in. They have trees and the like where the campings are, so we have problems. Most EU caravans, (campers/trailers) are movable with a couple guys and have hand brakes. We have a trailer ball installed on the front of the truck, so we can push them around like a fork lift- they turn easier- he does it much easier with that.

We wanted to take our 33' Mansion there, but its impossible, unless we park it as a permanent cottage type. Can't imagine it on the roads there- its hard enough here in the USA.

Maybe suggest the true Airstream originator for a babies name- Hawley, as in Hawley Bowlus? not such a great ring- almost like a chuld trying to say "Harley". Drink lots of water, swim, do your yoga, stretch, keep the pressure and stress down, enjoy it- most wonderful time of my life- ready to start up with #2. Enjoy it! EZ

2Air',
I believe the exact thoughts were... "I'm glad it's 1 a.m. and we're 100 yards from any other trailers, because we didn't unhitch or put those stabilizers down, and I bet this trailer is a'rockin... Oh, well ... Are we really gonna be parents? ... Would Vegas or Vega make a better middle name?"

As a father of two healthy daughters, you are right I would not understand. I think I was absent for all that and have no clue as to any of it.

My son was conceived in our Airstream. It was on a "canceled" Wagon Wheels Vintage Intra-Club caravan in '01. My wife and I had been trying to get pregnant since we were married in '93. We were enjoying dinner on the caravan in International Falls MN when we spotted a complete double rainbow. It was either that night or the next that our prayers were answered.

BTW my kids are the 4th generation to use this particular Airstream, which my grandparent's purchased new in '60.

Brad,

I think that would be the "young" Doc Holman... the old Doc built the trailer.
