actually no- "gross trailer weight rating (GTWR) is the total mass of a road trailer that is loaded to capacity, including the weight of the trailer itself, plus fluids, and cargo, that a vehicle is rated to tow by the manufacturer." loaded with everything it can carry max weight.

According to Airstream all 73 Sovereigns weigh just under 5000 lbs.

What engine is in your truck? If it doesn't have a factory tow package, you might need a transmission cooler. Try posting about this in the towing area, you might good someone who has a recommendation to improve the truck

Yeah it needs the cooler. It's a v8, 5.4L?? I don't know. It's a v8. Auto transmission. At least I know I wasn't crazy and saw that somewhere.... see I told you it was like 8k pounds. Hahaha. At least it helps me feel not so much of a dumb donkey.

8000 pounds- you must be carrying all sorts of stuff..LOL
If your truck is a 4.6 V8 it could be weak on towing. A 5.4 should be no problem

Husband and I argued over it all day yesterday. He can't admit when I'm right. So when we get fully loaded and headed to spri ng stream, we will be stopping somewhere to weigh..... this battle is not done yet. Lol

hey its a fun thing, and we look forward to it each time it comes around. Best regards to Karen and Brad and Chief in their travels.
We have a busy month with 3 events in April. Then Asheville studio crawl in May. A favorite of ours.
Only 2 weeks until the Chewacla Tin Can Tourists rally ..our first time there.

Yaay Spring.

So we may still be going, but it may be in the in laws camper. They have a brand new something or another. If we can't find a new tow vehicle in the next couple of weeks our airstream will be sitting in the yard....

you are welcome in whatever you bring. We have had some come up for the day, or stay in the hotel next door, etc. What will you tow the in laws camper with?
