We loved Bodega Bay and the area when we visited several years back. We ask ourselves why we sit here in landlocked middle Missouri when coasts surround us. Enjoy! ~G

Heading to the coast and enjoying this impromptu potluck first, I am having a good time. I picked up some cookies for later and a favor for each of us. Paula and Steph, I am eating too much but it's wonderful. G. where's the next trip for you?

Carol, yummy cookies and so fancy! Late March or early April, we'll head to Dauphin Island, one of the barrier islands just off Mobile Bay in the Gulf. It was really hard hit by Katrina and Rita, but we think the island campground will be okay now. It's on the east end of the island; the west end was almost cut off by wave action and many many beach homes reduced to stilts or completely gone. This is a major shrimping area, one of the places where wild shrimp are caught and sold in the US. We are hoping to find that the industry is still intact after the hurricane damage. I'm hoping we can go northwest or northeast this summer/fall. I've never been in the Maine-NovaScotia area nor have I seen Oregon-Washington-British Columbia. Then we just made reservations at John Pennekamp SP in the Keys for the first 2 weeks of January, '09. Yea! I'm hoping we can at least dip in to the Can Opener on our way down. This is all pretty audacious for us to plan, considering the age/health of my mom and of course the health of Steve, our son who lives with us. A girl just has to plan and hope for the best!~G

Wonder if Laura is back yet? - She does not like us talking food So get it in quick I like talking food - cause I don't cook too often....lots of great ideas here.... Made Texas Chili last night - still smokin' today never again!!

But you can all count on me to bring the drinks..... Here is the latest in our choice of pallet teasers..... Annie & Marvin found it at their wine making place.

I am heading Wednesday to start a batch for us. We normally make our wines at home - but this one is a special order and very hard to find apparently so I will let the experts make it and I will just do my dutiful stir to make it officially "make your own"

Carol that almost looks like a sand storm - on the beaches near Atlantic City....or could even be close to Corpus Christie.

Just need some more to drink to help the imagination and warm the bones through and through....

But then just imagine how much snow you really could have....
