Rally Activities - Fun Ideas?
Being newly assigned to coordinate fun rally activities for our WBCCI Unit each evening at our rally events, I'm looking for ideas and suggestions on things that you have done at your rallies that were enjoyable, different, creative. Thanks for ideas, photos and explanations on how you executed the activity(s).

We played sewer hose toss at RMVAC vintage rally and it was clever and a blast. Who knew. The idea is to see who can throw a sewer hose the furthest.

You know, I like a good joke, but this just seems mean.
Let's hear some real suggestions!
I'm sure a good hike, or a nature walk by a local ranger would be great. Seems like I've read about some bike tours being made available also.

You are correct, Dan, it was a serious request for evening activities. Just got caught up in the "fun".
On several occasions when group camping, we've made homemade ice cream and had a sundae buffet or social. Well received by all ages and not a lot of work.

BTW, the sewer hose toss was a real suggestion...it's part of the Airstream Rodeo we have had at the RMVAC Rally the last couple of years - it's a lot of fun with a western flair. We also have pink flamingo barrel racing and rope the blue-boy steer...it's a lot of fun!
Also more of our pics & rally reports can be viewed at The Rockin' Wally-B Ranch

I had no doubt the sewer hose toss was real!
I didn't intend to put a damper on the fun, but always making fun of the WBCCI is getting a little old......
(pun intended!)

Rally Activities - Fun Ideas?
Some my suggestions may be a little off-beat, but they have proven to be enjoyable if they fit in with the Rally crowd that is anticipated:
- Ice Cream Social. The two times that I have done this, there were a number of children expected who had never enjoyed home-made ice cream. We rounded up three (hand cranked) ice cream freezers and three of the participant coaches prepared the ice cream mix. The coaches not making ice cream mix volunteered to bring either pies or cakes for the event.
- I've Got a Secret. This is an activity that we have had on the first evening of several rallys. For this activity, each participant writes a secret (something that can safely be disclosed publicly) then places the secret in a hat. Each participant takes his or her turn grabbing a secret then circulates around the group asking leading questions in an effort to discover the author of the secret. Prizes are usually offered to the first to solve the riddle and the last one to solve his/her riddle. This activity works best when most of the participants aren't well acquainted. Spouses/Significant others are usually asked to return their riddles if they draw one known to belong to their spouse/significant other.
- Make Your Own Do-Nut. This was a fun activity one particularly cold evening during a rally a couple of years ago. Locating an automatic doughnut making machine may be something of a problem, but the effort can be worth it. The last time that I was involved with this activity, three coaches volunteered to make up one batch each of the three diffent varieties of doughnut batter. All other coaches volunteered to bring various coatings and dipping sauces for the doughnuts. It was a big conversation starter and it was a particular treat for many who had never been involved in making their own doughnuts.
- Participant Mix and Match. I haven't tried this activity yet, but am considering it for a caravan that I hope to lead this coming summer. Pre-planning is necessary with this one. Each participant will be asked to bring a childhood photo that the leader will scan into a JPG file. Once scanned into JPG files, all of the photos will be combined into a photo set, and printed (one copy for each participant). Each participant will then be provided with a game board with spaces marked off showing the names of all participants along with an evelope containing the JPG images that have been cut apart. The participants will then try to match the images to the names of the participants. Awards will be offered for highest degree of accuracy as well as lowest degree of accuracy.
- Pumpkin Carving Contest. Granted, this only works during the fall season, but it amazed me how much all of the participants enjoyed this contest at one rally that I attended. Each coach was provided with a pumpkin then the participants residing in that coach teamed together to carve a jack-o-lantern. The jack-o-lanterns were displayed on the patios of each participants coaches, and participants voted on the winners during a progressive hourdoureves party. The judging was for participants' choice, most scary, most original, and most grotesque.
