Mid-Missouri Fall Boondock 2017

Back by popular demand, announcing the 6th annual Mid-Missouri Fall Boondock, October 5-8, 2017! This is a popular October Boondocking event for those who need a break and want to get back to nature and enjoy the fall colors of the Missouri woods. I have arranged for a special group permit from the Missouri Department of Conservation to camp adjacent to the 48 acre Rudolph Bennitt Lake in Rudolph Bennitt State Recreation Area. RBSRA is located 19 miles north of Columbia, MO on US Hwy 63, then 5 miles west on Route F, then 2.75 miles north on Route T, then 0.5 mile west on County Rd. 2930. Canoes, kayaks, and boats with electric motors are encouraged as the lake is beautiful this time of year, and the fishing (MO fishing permit required) has the potential to be entertaining. We will have a non-stop campfire with Dutch Oven sharing throughout the weekend and the official potluck on Saturday evening . There is a pit toilet on site but otherwise, be prepared to camp off the grid.

A cut and paste job should get you to the RSVP page on the calendar if the hyper-jump doesn't work:

One of my favorite rallies. Monday is the Columbus Day federal holiday, so I'll be staying Sunday night.

Nice to know about this. If we finish our jobs in Iowa in time we will have to stop in

Sounds good beetlebob. FYI to the group, I received permission to collect firewood from the Area Manager today so we won't have to worry about bringing in "foreign" wood. I'll plan on bringing a small chainsaw and a splitting maul

We will be heading out from Springfield, MO for out full time journey. Might as well start out with an Airstream event. Thanks

Sounds fun, and relatively local for me. New to camping. Picked up our Airstream last week.

We will be in the area for the rally. We will be a day late and might have to leave a day early. Do you have a physical address so I can put it in my GPS to find you

Seems like I plugged in "Rudolph Bennitt Lake" on my Google maps to get to the actual camping area. There is signage with arrows at almost all of the crossroads if you're looking for it. It is a gravel road most of the way in so remember your rock guards or take your time (fingers crossed for dry weather)

We use a Freightliner medium duty semi truck to pull with. Is this area hard and wide enough for our truck

I'm going to be down in the Smokys during this rally, or I would have come. I had not heard of it before. We keep our AS up by Mark Twain Lake, so it would be pretty easy to get there. Sorry to be missing it, but I'll have it in mind for next year.

Want to go. Can we crash the party at the last minute. Is that OK?

I should think so. Only time we've had issues with "mud" was the year they were in the middle of grading the gravel roads and it rained. Roads were solid but messy (that was the year I invested in the Rock Tamer mud flaps). The area by the lake is plenty solid; only thing I would consider is your turning radius for the cul de sac. Might need to set up in the wide area just before the dead end.

You betcha! The beauty of this getaway is that it's very informal. No schedules, trailer tours, etc.. Potluck on Saturday evening is the only "planned" event.
