Canopener 2018

12th Annual Canopener Rally

January 4-7, 2018

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Gregory E. Moore RV Resort

7525 W. Scenic Highway 30A

Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459

(850)267-8330

This years Canopener will have activities to be determined later in the year but the Clubhouse has been reserved for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. I expect there will be music, chili, cornhole tournament, bunko, open house and more music. Who knows what else will be added.

Reservations for campsites must be made through Reserve America. Their policy prohibits reservation more than 11 months in advance of your arrival date (see their site for exact details).
After you make your reservation, RSVP Here with names and site number http://www.airforums.com/forums/cale...y=2018-1-4&c=1

Thanks to all who have made this such a fun rally in the years past. 2018 will be bigger and better we are sure.

I have heard that several folks have already booked sites so they will be there for New Years. Right now, I don't think we can get there before Jan 3.

Our tentative plan is to leave Melbourne on the 29th, spend the night at Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs and drive to Topsail on the 30th. If that fits with your plans, maybe we can caravan.

We would love to but we will probably be coming from Tennessee visiting family for Christmas. If our plans change I will let you know. But we will be at Topsail for New Years.

Canopener 2018 Rally Map - 103 Loop

We have a few reservations reported on the official Canopener 2018 RSVP page so here's the first campground map. We have a long way to go to fill up the park! Click on the link below to see the map.

Canopener 2018 Map Sites 101-168

Remember, after you make your reservations with the park through Reserve America, please go to the official Canopener Rally RSVP page to register with the rally. When we see your registration, we'll put you on the map.

To register, click the RSVP link below, scroll to the bottom of the RSVP page. Click that you are going and in the comment box type in your site number, first names of the humans in your party (so we can make name tags), plus provide your arrival and departure dates. In the event your plans change later in the year, please use the same RSVP page to indicate you are not coming so we can remove you from the attendee list.

Sites Going Fast

A check of the Reserve America website this afternoon indicates sites are going fast. Much of the 103 Loop is booked from before New Year's through the rally dates the following weekend. I wasn't able to get the site I've had the last 6 years. Here's a link to Reserve America if you want to make a reservation:

Reserve America Campground Reservations Link

A map update appears below. Clearly not all of the reservations have been posted on the rally RSVP page. Below is a map showing the RSVP status as of 1:50 pm today. If you have a reservation please use the RSVP link below to register with the rally so I can get you on the map.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but it appears the only way to book right now is to book a date prior to the 29th of December and then extend it into 2018, as to try to book the actual dates of the event results in a message that it is outside the current booking window. Is this how folks are working around the limited booking dates?

We were there last year before New Years. We did a New Years Eve progressive dinner which was a blast. There were about 40 other rigs there. It's probably catching on. There was also a big group of SOBs there so there could also be bunch of them as well.

Yes, that is how it works. Your starting reservation date cannot be more than 11 months in advance.

Exactly Rick. The New Years Eve party not with the Canopener has a lot of sites booked that weekend but will bail out and be gone Jan 1 or 2. Then most sites will open up for Canopenians. Be patient but ready to book Feb 1 or 2.
Good luck everybody. We are in the same boat.

Fear not folks there will be plenty of spots available. Airstreamers and SOBs will be cancelling right up to the start of the rally. Walking around during the last rally I spied at least a dozen empty spots that were never occupied.
