Not sure how this reservation system works — Please add Mark and Annette (Razorhog) to the early breakfast, or whichever one has openings. Thanks!

In the past I've received a package via UPS at the General Store. I suggest contacting the park to be sure that they will still do this. 1-850-267-8330

Canopener 2018

If you are still looking for a spot and are a member of FB Airstream Addicts, there was a post 10 minutes ago from someone getting ready to cancel their reservation!

I had tried to get my name on one of the breakfast list. Looks like I did not make it on. If someone cancels, please add Jan (RVJAN) and Charles Heavener

please pm me if you are looking for a site as we are going to cancel; I don't want to put the site back into the camping pool until an Airstreamer who wants to attend Can Opener 2018 can coordinate to snatch this upcoming reservation for the rally - we are so disappointed

We are newbies and so excited to attend our first Can opener. I see that both breakfast seating are full. Is there a waiting list? If so please put Tony & Barbara (hamboneto) on for either.

OK Aluminote alumni and newbies - the 2017 Canopener Experience included ten stage commanders: Andrea, Bill, Bobby, Glen, Harry, 2 Jims, Michael, and 2 Stans. Backing up our vocals were guitars, keyboards, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, flute, and dulcimer.

This year, we’d like to have more players and singers, so be sure to plan to be part of the fun. I already know we’ll have guitars, fiddles, ukuleles, and harmonicas plus an old scratchy voice. If you know you’re planning to participate, please post what you will have in your arsenal. I’m also curious if there is a preference for acoustic versus amplified – the Park has some amplification equipment and there are some of us that can also bring their own. We won’t plan to amp up indoors (e.g. the chili cookoff happy hour in the clubhouse), but weather permitting, the amphitheater is the perfect venue for some amplified jams!

Finally, if anyone would like to share any preferences on song set tunes, please post or PM me and it will give us a head start in learning some songs to play. Please include the key you would like to play them in.

Thanks in advance for your Aluminote and Canopener,
Jim Stewart (Stewball)

Anything by Bruno Mars or FloRida. Well you asked. Don't know the key. Some of us would like some dance music.

You're lucky. You can show up to visit Canopener even without your Airstream since you live just a few miles away. Folks who have to travel farther don't have that option; they need a place to park their trailer, at Topsail or another nearby campground. I hope you'll forgive me if I'm out of line in suggesting this, but in the interest of maximizing Canopener attendance, you might want to let other would-be attendees from farther away take whatever spaces come open, while you just make day trips from home to Topsail the same way Airstreamers at Grayton or other nearby campgrounds will.*

I'm less clear on whether spaces that come available should go to returnees or first-timers…

*Full disclosure, back when the WBCCI Mardi Gras Rally was still a thing, that's what I did. Rather than take up one of the limited spaces available, I just visited the rally and left my Airstream at home so another attendee from farther away could also attend.

Canopener Cancellation

We have to cancel. We purchased a new truck that is now in the shop for a new engine. Really wanted to join the fun. We'll see you next year.
We were staying at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park.
