Bog recipe

Gary
Hey Gary, here is the recipe Henry and Ronnie put together at the March gathering. Definately the best ever. You can figure out the amounts, this one fed a hundred or so folks. There was 1 scoop left in the pot at the end.

20 lbs chicken. We used boneless thighs and breasts. Possum works too.
14 smoked sausages
5 lbs onions, carrots, celery
6 lbs Jimmy Dean hot sausage, cooked before adding to the pot
4 sticks butter
7 lbs of Uncle Bens rice
3 cups water to 1 cup rice
caramelize onions in oil before adding to water
boil water 2 hours before adding rice
plenty of salt and pepper
3 chicken bullion cubes

Have fun, it's a great backyard feast.

That's one big a camping family, need a puter to divide it to family size. I'll figure it out.

Thanks

As long as you use those ingredients, and adjust the portions, the results will be fabuloso.

Also, if you google "Chicken Bog", all kinds of stuff comes up. The Alumalina version has a few more things in it than the standard stuff.

It's all good.

Either cut the formula or borrow the pot and invite everyone.

I am going to try and figure out how to make this vegan. Shouldn't be too difficult. Thanks for sharing it, Sandlapper John.

We're In Again!

Well after being disappointed and missing the Spring gathering...we are reserved and on the calendar for this Fall. I'm really looking forward to seeing all our Southern friends again! We had a great time last Fall...although I was concerned that we were going to burn the campground down when the balloons went up (and into the trees).

We are going to make a vacation out of it and spend the rest of the week in the South Carolina coastal area. And we are open to suggestions. You can pen us into Site #61...which interestingly enough was our campsite at last Fall's outing.

Always glad to see our friends from up north. Welcome back Bob and Linda.

SC has some really good coastal camping. In the Myrtle Beach area, from the mega parks like Ocean Lakes to the 2 state parks, MB and Huntington Beach. Farther down, we like Buck Creek, a forest service cg on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway, just north of Charleston. Then there are Edisto and Hunting Island SP near Beaufort, 2 of SC'c best.

I second John's suggestions for SC coastal camping. In addition, there are some great areas in GA as well. Areas like Tybee Island, Darien etc. are great areas - particularly if you enjoy paddling. Not sure about specific campgrounds, but the whole coastal area of SC and GA is really great.

A week ago I camped out on Little Tybee Island, although this was sans Airstream; actually paddled out to the island and camped in a tent for a few nights. But my point is that there are some great, beautiful areas to explore!

Alumalina Map Update 5/5/2014

As of this morning, Monday May 5, there are only 10 sites at Lake Wateree that haven't been reserved for September 26 and 27 (Friday and Saturday).

Here is a link to the updated map for Fall 2014 Alumalina:

Welcome,Yankees are invited to discover Southern hospitality at its best so please feel right at home upon arrival. However, California isn't usually considered Yankee around these parts.

Been in SC since'02. Still working on my Redneck merit badge. And the SC and Ohio flags fly proudly on the rig.

Edisto Beach State Park, just south of Charleston, SC, is the best of coastal camping, in my opinion.

Stay in the Beach Campground, if you can get a site.

Hoping to get there prior to the rally, myself.
