Maggie,
Sunny smiles, no frowns, eezy breezy. All good.
Seems no such thing as typical weather anymore, but typically late September is dry, low humidity, highs in 70's , lows in 50's. Perfect for camping, no AC needed, campfire is splendid.
Keep your fingers crossed.
We will want you to share a drink of Jamison with us, for old times sake.
John

John, still working on mine that pesky real job thing gets in the way of my time... Worse comes to worse, Layne has a cousin who lives on the lake directly across from the park. I can probably drag my old girl and camp there ..

Hey Lucky, your luck gonna run out if Layne hears you call her old. You'll be sleeping in the pines.

Sandpaper forgot to mention we'll be putting up a new weather rock in camp for forecasting. I hear it will have a solar light meter feature too.
Yes Nurse, I did take my meds.

Maggie,
Weather rocks also forecast sunny skies, fair breezes and puffy clouds. They also let you know when it's dark out too.
Yes Nurse, I'll return to my room.

Too late Unlucky Dave, damage is done. You may be sleeping on the bottom of the lake before this is over.

Dear Sandlapper(King Possum),
I have had a busy spring and summer flying around in the Blue Ridge Mountains and a vacation trip to Washington DC and the Delaware beaches. I have been really surprised by the number of young healthy Possums I have seen at dawn and dusk. As King I thought you need to know for any up coming events or Rally's.
If our friends in the low country are have the same finding for the possums on the half shell there should be more that enough food sources for the stew this year. Maybe enough for everyone to take home this year once they have emptied their mountain creek water quart jars?
Enough for now, just wanted to check in from the forest in the mountains. Remember OWLS hunt 24-7 and they do give a HOOT.

Hey Big hooter, I have noticed also the abundance of fine, fat summer possum. It has been a good year for them.
They still have not figured out how to cross the road though.

King Possum (Sandlapper), Possum Boy,
While flying over highways I have notice some confused or slow possums laying in the roadways. I think this help clean up the gene pool? If they are slow movers or confused how fast the vehicle coming down the road( timing issues). Their mothers should tell them they can make only one mistake in judgement. Maybe the young possums need to start on one lane dirt roads to check the speed or speed-distant judgement before they go for a big time paved road crossing??? What a waste of good food when they cannot out run a speeding vehicle?
Back to my big Oak tree for watching the world.
Best HOOT to you.

Notes from the field:
Just so you boys don't think I've been a slacking'
I have been diligently marinating myself in the finer 100 proof substances and juggling life and job, and a renovation on my 72..
New frame new floor new plumbing new electric new bidet new beds new seating in front..all at the expense of my new cooking kettle and copper line. Y'all from down heah will know exactly what I am speaking of.
If I can get a couple more weekends in she might be capable enough for me to show up at y'all's festivities. Sho' nuff, I gotta get back up the holler and see whether things have calmed enough for the process to commence'.

Lucky Dave,
I flew up to Stone Mountain SP this weekend and I had to use radar because the fog was heavy. Roaring River was running pretty quick so you do need to check out your holler and work area. It may have had a little to much rain?
I saw a lot of possums and squirrels this weekend. I guess they thought they were safe because of the fog and rain..... WRONG. The OWL clan now knows where they live when the weather is bad. I did see a lot of wild grapes and acorns so by the middle to end of Sept. they should be really healthy (fat).
Sandlapper's big stew pot should have lots of protein in it this fall. And if we have a full campground there will be lots of folks to feed.
I look forward to seeing your vintage project this fall. Take care, see ya down the road.

Hey Jim, the Armadillo never made it quite this far up so we have to settle for plain ole possum.
Is crack'n open an armadillo anything like skinn'n out a cooter ??
