Think about it...
Would be fun to caravan out there.
Notice that getting up at 4am to see the ballons each morning may get old...
So, I may stay on the site, would be easier to just step outside to watch.
Will not be doing this many times in my life, so am saving up.
This is a rough draft of Ballon 'loop'...
Am open to adjustments.
$125 a night is high, but like you said, how many times in your life are you going to do this.
Do you know what the dates are for 2007? We might have a conflict. SuEllyn's Dad is going celebrate his 90th Birthday in Jacksonville on October 7th. If '07 doesn't work for us, we will plan for '08.

Up until several years ago, one of the WBCCI units used to organize a Hot Air Balloon Festival Rally, but it got to be way too much work and was dropped.. It was heavily organized, with meals and daily activities laid out for each day. I'd love to get to ABQ Festival also, and if you can get in and out of on-site campground for less than the entire 8 days, it would be worth the price for a couple nights, though southern campground (a little further away from launch points) might be cheaper... Maybe this could be another "Four Corners" Unit/Forum Rally, where organization is limited to spelling out parking options and contact points, and making recommendations. Add a potluck, and a "happy Hour" and we'd have a rally...

I hadn't seen this thread until tonight! I'd love to go to Albuquerque again, especially towing my A/S! Last few times we've been, we stayed in a motel. Actually didn't have an A/S then!
The first time I ever went to the ABF, I got to fly one as they were trying to sell me the balloon! I ended up getting an old 1982 BW a few months later. Still have it! I never finished taking my tests to get my regular pilots liscense, I just was a student pilot. (So I couldn't fly other than solo or with my instructor.) Flying it solo certainly takes a bit of the pleasure out of it! Oh well...too many other things happened, like...LIFE! But, it's still a passion of mine and I still am in awe of the whole experience. I figure if I sell my balloon, I'll never get back at it.
I think it would be a great idea to get a group together. I'd definitely be in for it. And who knows...maybe my passion will be re-kindled and I'll get back to flying!
Don't know how I found this thread...is over 4 years old.
Got any photos of your ballon?
Raven had me for a while back in the 70s.
Funny family owned company...
They made hot air ballons and plastic tanks.
The kind for storage of chemicals and water.
Bet if you went, you would get the buzz again.
May sign up for a flight with someone if we get a camp spot.
How I found this thread is amazing!
I'm thinking.......I just might try this, there's plenty of time to prepare. I'd be interested in the President's area if I'm going to travel that far...I want front row parking!

It would be nice to attend. Alas, UNM has an meeting that I have to attend right smack during that period every year. So I'm in ABQ at that point, but completely tied up.

Any ideas along this route are greatly incouraged, as most of this area is new to me.
