Trim re-attachment to rock guard

One of my front rock guards' trim strip has come unattached at the front end. I held it in place with duct tape last summer on a trip, but now that has come off and, in any case, it needs to be reattached correctly. If anyone knows how best to do this, please let me know. Thanks.

You can put the vinyl strip back in the extrusion with the back edge of a butter knife. The end of the strip generally has a piece of aluminum capping the end and pot riveted to the guard. From the picture it looks like the rivet either was never there or came out. Look at the others ends of the strips on the guard or on the trailer to see what I mean.

The vinyl trim strip is supposed to sit in the track that is attached to the rock guard or the trailer wall in other places. There are rivets holding the track on, but none through any pieces of the trim strip. Are the trim strips glued in place?

One photo below shows the trim strip that I am dealing with, which has gunk on it and the track from the duct tape last summer. The other photo below is of the rear end of another similar strip. Walking around the trailer, they all look the same to me - no apparent clip, rivet, or other attachment device showing on the surface of the trim strip. Yet they normally stay in place.

I wonder whether there is normally a hidden clip that sits in the track and holds the vinyl trim strip in place by a little ridge on each side of the trim strip.

Trim re-attachment to rock guard

3m red double sided adhesive tape to reattach trim.Clean first with alcohol.
3m tape is available at most auto parts stores.
Your factory adhesive just let go as water gets behind the trim.

Yellow death is great weather strip adhesive but too messy for this application.
