Rockguard for 1978 Argosy

I am looking for a 'form' fitting rock guard for our 78 Argosy.

I have found some that just doesn't seem like they are made to fit our unit.

Has anyone found a rock guard which fits the Argosy?

Thanks

I think the rockguards from inlandrv and outofdoors mart fit the argosy...or do you have minuets? Many people have made their own rockguards, some 'hard' materials (fiberglass ?) and some with canvas w/foam inserts.

I made my own following this thread

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f469...ors-46690.html

and there are other threads with others telling about their projects, do a search and you'll find them.

Thanks. I'll dig into this. I appreciate the link. I like the canvas and foam idea. Very clean look too.

I contacted a company that makes canvas rock guards and here is the reply.

"Good Morning Steve,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We do manufacture the padded window guards for the Argosy Airstream. We've been told that all years of the Argosy are the same, which is good because we only have one pattern.

We use Sunbrella fabric on the front and back of the cover. The inside has a 1/2" dense foam. The belief is that the 1/2" dense foam with disperse the impact of a stone that may come in contact with the window while travelling. We cannot however make any guarantees because there are too many variables at hand. With that being said, we've also never had anyone contact us and tell us that the window covers didn't work. We install the turnbuckle grommets in each of the covers and supply you with the studs to be installed on the trailer. The covers are larger than the window frame so as to not interfere with the window glass.

You can go to the Sunbrella website to view the colours. You may choose any 46" wide solid colour. We recommend choosing a darker colour as very light colours will get dirty very quickly. Please see the Sunbrella link:

http://www.sunbrella.com/showroom/#s...&limits=111111

The cost for a pair of padded window covers will cost $395.00.
The shipping will cost $50.00. We send them by the Postal Service as that is the most economical way to ship them. It usually takes about 7 - 10 days.

We will require a Visa or MasterCard number at the time of order. We will need a deposit before we begin. Once the order is complete, we will use the same card number and process the rest of the order. Please contact your credit card company and let them know you will be making two telephone transactions to a Canadian company.

Kind regards,

Lorie McMillan

I plan to order a set tomorrow if they are open. I will let you know how they turn out if you would like.

Sprouty.

I take it you have read the original Nick Crowhurst post on this idea:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f469...ors-46690.html

My protectors, following his idea, appear in post #25.

My job provided that firm with the original pattern, for which I paid them but have never received so much as a simple thank you, for all the orders that came from that post.

You should also read post #37 on the thread if you want to have protectors made just as well for less money.

I talked it over with my wife before placing the order and "WE" decided to take a chance and not buy the covers until we use the trailer a few times to make sure we indeed want to do a lot of camping with it. Hopefully we don't end up with a broken window!
