I must replace a front rock guard (plexiglass window protector) that was well cracked by some UFO on the interstate. This is expensive plexiglass! I wonder if anyone has added protection to the protector, such as clear or tinted window film? I don't want to diminish the style and appearance.

"protection to the protector" made me giggle and snort. Lets see, a vinyl cover over the slip covers on your couch, so someone down the line 30 years from now can remove it all and find the original avocado green covers in perfect condition.. and then replace them as they were ugly to begin with.
Film would cut down on scratches, but I doubt it would do much to mitigate an impact that could crack the plexi. You'd want some high-density foam padding like my soft rock guards, but then you might decide you didn't need the plexiglass "sunglasses".

Wait 'till you have to have a window replaced..... that will be expensive and make the rock guard seem like small change. A flat panel rock guard LEXAN sheet can be replaced with ease by the owner.
Yes indeed, the window behind the rock guard is worth about $1800 according to my dealer. If it were a flat panel I would do the replacement myself. It is the starboard curved rock guard that cracked.
