making my own

I found a 36x48 sheet of lexan at Menard's today for $68. They had a fair amout of aluminum channel (angle and flat) I think I can make a frame out of. My hinge is about the only thing left or the original rock guard. I'm still tring to find a good (cheap) source for a pair of rubber hood tie downs for the bottom, any ideas? I am also trying to figure out how to make a pair of rods to hold the widow up?

Aren't those rubber gizmos the same as they are currently using? If so any dealer can probably get them.

Please post pictures, I'm planning a similar project. I have the original front window guard, but it is pretty beat up and has holes in it.

Good luck! We did this last month, and it was a quick and fun little project. Luckily, we did have hardware from the god-awful...thing.. the PO put on Ambassador. Just built a frame from some aluminum C-Channel.
