The Rock Tamers have been good for me but they are a little heavy and I will be selling them. Keep in mind they attach to the stinger, so by the time they are bolted to the stinger on an WD hitch it can be a load to carry. I will build their replacement.

Hi, you are going to get dings no matter what you do unless you just park your trailer. I put mud flaps on my Lincoln and bubble wrapped the entire front of my trailer for my Alaska trip. My segment protectors are dinged, my rock guard got a spider crack in it, and rocks got past the mud flaps and stuck into the bubble wrap. [new dings everywhere] It's going to happen; I only recommend that you wait a few years before you take your new tow vehicle and new trailer to Alaska, but you still need to do it. [bucket list]

Also my freshly repainted tongue and hitch got gravel blasted.

This works well for me. Just roll it up under the vehicle and slip it into the receiver. Also doubles as a great storage unit. Will post a winter storage pic later.

Here is an example of a "home-made" mud flap which I cobbled together with a welder. I have posted these pics a few times in the past. It is very easy to install/remove the mud flaps and very light weight. I have used this for two years and have not had any dings in the trailer. The truck also has factory mud flaps.

Wow! I like that, much simpler and easy to build than I had in mind! Mind if I copy the idea for my own use?

Nice storage idea. Almost my entire shop is on wheels even though things don't get moved much and the big lathe is bolted to the floor.

Stole it from another forum member...can't remember who or what thread. Customized the dimensions for my own application, but took about 2 hours to build. Had 3/4" ply sitting around and IIRC the casters, with brakes and 100# capacity each, were about $16 for all.

I believe it was to the left of the window - small ding - nothing much to fret about honestly - I just assume that some kind of mud flaps will be a reasonable prophylactic

I'm not actual too worried about a ding or dings

I think I will try to DIY some flaps with my dad soon
