Yellow paint on one lug hole?

Good morning, guys!

I'm in the process of repacking bearings on my 74 Tradewind for the first time since I bought the trailer. I suspect all the running gear is original to the trailer. I know the axles are. Can someone shed some light on why one lug bolt hole on each hub has yellow paint?

Yes, the axles are out. Repacking the bearings is incidental to grinding and painting axle mounting plates. I'm sure you're all familiar with the, "While I'm in here" syndrome.

Thanks, y'all!

It's possible someone balanced the wheel and hub together and wanted to keep them matched up.

If this is the case there would be a dab of yellow paint on the wheels. If not, then the wheels have probably been replaced.

That would make sense. I'll take another look at the wheels. I think they are OEM too but have possibly been repainted and are peeling badly currently. I suspect any yellow paint that may have been on them is long gone.

Thanks again!
